Life never really goes the way we think it will. We can plan in great detail yet things will come along that cause us to scrap our agenda all together. That’s why I hadn’t got past my first blog post. Long story short, over the course of this year I lost 3 members of my family that I loved dearly.
All of my previous plans were sidelined and in the case of my father, helping him through his last months with us was paramount. Then came my resting period with grief heavy on my heart. I binge watched the entire Downton Abbey series on Amazon Prime. After that I started hiking my enormous hill again. Cleared out our home of things I really didn’t want anymore and subsequently made room for new. The family heirlooms I inherited and will now always cherish.
So, I’ve been moving into Christmas while still being gentle with myself. I’ve got a short “to do” list but one I think will make for a nice holiday. It’s filled with baking cookies, setting up a special menu for Eve and Christmas Day, with our traditional stack of movies set aside and a beautiful tree decorated with ornaments that all tell a story.
I had intended to photograph my art studio for this entry but I’m thankfully; after many months of no interest; in the middle of a project. Needless to say it’s a bit of a mess. I’ve got my 2025 planner ready to go with obtainable goals set in pencil cause, you just never really know. I’m excited about the direction I’ve mapped and I’m finding joy again even in the smallest of things. Like the little hummingbirds that came to our window yesterday demanding I refill the feeder. Yea, it’s all in the pursuit.
Happy Holidays!
